draklive-install does not work?

QUOTE
urpmi draklive-install

This will install all deps.
Then replace the installed draklive-install perl script with the one from Toronto or Delft.
HighKing
I did install draklive-install, but get an error message (wrote it down somewhere...) right after partitioning.
I'll try the script from Toronto, maybe that works better smile.gif

Edit: Just noticed that the "Automatic boot in 55 seconds" doesn't work with Toronto either (waited for a few minutes).
Do you happen to know if this is some kind of bug, or might this be a problem with the 3 different systems I tested it on? smile.gif
kris
You can't use the normal draklive-install. A mklivecd based live cd needs a slightly different script.
Also, you need grub, and lilo, and the acpi package etc.

Replace the syslinux package with this one:

http://home.tiscali.nl/berenstraat/mcnl/sy...2007.1.i586.rpm

And be sure to have a flash.jpg file in /usr/lib/syslinux
HighKing
Thanks for pointing that out Kris.
The syslinux package you point to, is this the version from Toronto? I already replaced the whole syslinux directory on my main system with the one from Toronto, and edited the mklivecd script to use my own splash.jpg smile.gif
kris
No, the new syslinux package is a version I asked Korrel to build for me. It is not the Toronto version. It is a rebuilt from Fedora 7 smile.gif

Cool, I'll use that one for "beta2" (or shall I call it RC laugh.gif)
HighKing
Cool, I just created a new master, with the new syslinux package you gave me, and now I see the seconds countdown like it should smile.gif
The installer also works with the draklive-install script from Toronto smile.gif

Uploading 'beta 2' now... biggrin.gif

Uploading 'beta 2' now... biggrin.gif

Whispers to Ron: pssst, this topic is in English laugh.gif
Ron, there is not much difference between beta1 and beta2, only the 55 second timout at boot now works, and the installer works (though I forgot to install the acpid package... so you can only install the bootloader if you deselect acpi). But I don't think you were going to install it? smile.gif

Ok, FreevoLive 0.13 is now "final" smile.gif

Here's my post on the mailing-list:
This evening, I uploaded FreevoLive 0.13.

It took some time since the first beta, and a lot of problems were fixed from beta1 to beta3,
but not much has changed since beta3 to the final.
Mostly testing is what have been done, and it seems that 0.13 is actually doing what it is designed for. :-)

This was the first version that had a few beta releases before the final release. Reason for that, is that FreevoLive now finally is a live cd on its own!
We do not rely on MCNLive any more as a base for FreevoLive, but it is build from a clean Mandriva 2007.1 "Spring" system this time.

Ok, real changes since 0.12:
- No remaster of MCNLive, but a live cd on its own
- Freevo 1.7.2 installed
- No more KDE desktop, but a smaller and lighter XFCE 4.4 desktop
- User "guest" doesn't exist anymore, it's now called "live".
- Users don't have any passwords set (root also), to make things easier.
Off course you will have to manually set a root password if you plan to install this one to your harddisk.

Why not KDE?
Well, KDE takes about 50MB more space on the cd (it is now only 277MB, where 0.12 was 323MB), and the desktop is only to ease configuration, since Freevo doesn't need it to run.

Have fun with it!

I read your message from tuxfamily.
The documentation page still refers to MCNLive as basis.

Downloaded the iso and burned a CD-RW.
Did start up my pc. Took the default screen resolution.
My CRT-monitor couldn't handle the resolution and gave a white stripe at the right site
Trying to run a movie gave a black screen and a monitor led blinking.

Rebooting without the live-CD gave a black screen and the led blinking.
Power off, cable disconnected (a little prayer biggrin.gif ) and yep, the led turned green again, without blinking.

Unfortunately the screen stays black. My 15" spare monitor works fine, so I think it is over with my 17"CRT sad.gif .

The documentation page is updated yesterday... I think you'd have to ctrl+r the page ;).gif

The default resolution is simply 800x600, so nothing strange about that... If this worked on your machine for 0.12, it should still work on 0.13 since nothing has changed about that smile.gif
Reading your message I think your monitor simply has just died ;).gif
I think this is just an unhappy coincidence...

You are probably right. but hey, it is version ... 13! ohmy.gif

I lossed a buddy with whom I worked for many many years. icon_cry.gif

before he died he did a lot of switching (the sound of a mini lightning, which he always did when during startup the resolution went to 1152x864.
HighKing
That indeed sounds like a crt monitor that has just had it...
Too bad that this just happens when you try FreevoLive sad.gif

Yeah, forgot to release it last friday laugh.gif

I did some testing with the 0.14 version.
This time the monitor didn't die. biggrin.gif

Some testresults:
- TV doesn give any sound, Music does.
- Movie crashes after using the Mplayer keys <RightArrow>
- Movie seem to play somewhat nervous
- Movie crashed 4 out of 6 times with a message saying
Crash
2, 1, exit (back to commandline)
broken pipe
- Photo ok
- Trailers not yet tested because of required DHCP for automatic network setup.
(have to do some manual ip setup)

Cool icon_idea.gif (but luckily you have a spare one now ;).gif)

This didn't work for you on earlier versions didn't it?
Still have to figure out a solution that works everywhere... kinda hard with static configuration tongue.gif

Strange... and this worked fine on 0.13?
Still the same mplayer doing this job...

Can be established in 3 ways:
  • Run X from the menu, and then configure it from there
  • Press CTRL+ALT+F1 and then run mcc from there or edit the config files with vi
  • Select "Shutdown" from the menu, and press 'e' while on it. You now get a sub-menu with the choice to only shutdown Freevo, and not the whole system. Now you can do whatever you want, whatever you like! laugh.gif

Yepp, I reported it on earlier versions.

I wasn't able to do a thorough test on 0.13 and I have overwritten my CD-RW with ... version 0.14
But I have never seen it so 'nervous' with earlier versions.

I know, done it before and I will do a complete network setup next weekend, so I can enjoy the latest Apple trailers. smile.gif
